VAT and registration complications meant we could not bring Larksong over ourselves, but relied on skipper Mark and his colleague to do this.

They made St Peter Port to Portland in record time even thought the genoa clew ripped out near Portland bill.

The docking master and I walked to Larksong’s berth to signal Mark where to go as we were not getting a response on the VHF and much to my surprise Larksong’s sister, Carolyn of Hamble, was berthed right next to us. Both neighbours from Carolyn and September Moon came out to help with the lines.

It was nice to have Mark and his colleague on board as they treated Larksong as their home for a few days and were able to tell me what worked and what didn’t. Mark cooked lots of chicken pasta before we all went to sleep.

We took the genoa to MOATT sails who inspected the whole sail and were able to repair the clew perfectly with dyneema webbing tape.
