Trip 2 – Portland Marina to Poole Quay Marina

Since our rigging is of unknown age and the insurance won’t cover it we have booked Larksong in with XP-Rigging in Poole. This will be our first slightly longer trip with Larksong.

After a cold night we wake up to a frosty deck.

Jane takes us out and practices reversing. We buy 50l of fuel.

The weather is very light and it takes us almost an hour to sail from the marina to the harbour entrance. At sea we maintain a very steady 3-4 kts.

Pass St Alban’s ledge near the yellow outer target buoys with a nice view of the NCI. No turbulence at all.

It’s getting dark already when we pass Old Harry and we remove the head sails from the furlers in the Swash Channel. First time inside Poole harbour we pick our way to Town Quay in the dark.

Moored next to a Sunseeker at 1800, and Richard the night guard takes our key as we set off for the station to take the train back to Portland.
