Trip 13 – Dartmouth to Portland, crossing Lyme Bay

Friday 9th August 2024

Decided it wasn’t too windy and set off from Dartmouth Deep Water 1 pontoon once our rafted neighbours left at 7.30 am. We set a new speed of 12 knots crossing Lyme Bay with decent sized waves, luckily from behind and a good westerly. Highlight was the dolphins.

Tried out the boom with the Genoa which worked well.

Overall 12 hours and 59 miles mooring to mooring. Tides were against us rounding Portland and even the harbour had white horses. Tried out Salt restaurant for tasty dinner and great ice cream.
